Joe Hosteny

Joe Hosteny has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Joe is currently the Head of Cloud and Fleet Systems at Thoro.ai since October 2021. Prior to that, they held the same role at Carnegie Robotics LLC from January 2019 to October 2021.

Before their position at Carnegie Robotics, Joe worked at Bossa Nova Robotics as a Software Engineering Manager, R&D - SW Ops from October 2017 to September 2018, and as a Senior Software Engineer from October 2015 to September 2018.

Joe also worked as an Independent Software Consultant from June 2014 to October 2015.

Joe has co-founded two companies as well. Joe was the Cofounder of LegalSifter from May 2013 to May 2014, and the Cofounder of BestRate from June 2012 to March 2013. At BestRate, they aimed to empower consumers to better manage their energy expenses.

Earlier in their career, Joe worked at Avere Systems as a Member of Technical Staff from February 2008 to November 2011, where they contributed to various components of Avere's file storage appliance. Joe also wrote a critical FreeBSD device driver for the NVRAM card.

Joe briefly worked at Extreme DA as a Member of Technical Staff from March 2007 to July 2007, and at Xigmix, Inc. as the Director of Software Engineering from February 2006 to March 2007.

Joe's career started at Network Appliance, where they worked as a Software Engineer from February 2004 to March 2005.

Joe Hosteny completed their education at Carnegie Mellon University. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, graduating in 1996. In 1997, they furthered their studies at the same university and obtained a Master of Science degree in the same field.
