Phyllis Fehr is an Alzheimer's advocate, community engagement and advocacy specialist at Brainwell Institute, and an author. After receiving a diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer’s at age 53, Phyllis transitioned from an ICU nurse to a prominent dementia human rights activist, contributing to policy work and research initiatives. Phyllis has spoken at significant venues, including the United Nations and the Senate of Canada, and has served on various advisory boards focused on dementia and human rights. Currently, Phyllis holds several leadership roles, including co-lead at the Dementia Empowerment Network and board member of Reimagining Dementia, while actively engaging in initiatives to promote dementia-friendly communities. Phyllis was recognized with the alumni of distinction award from Mohawk College in 2023.
