Leslie Martin

Leslie Martin is an accomplished professional in the coal mining industry, currently serving as the Executive Head of Technical and Projects at Thungela since June 2021. Prior to this role, Leslie held significant positions at Anglo American Coal SA, including Head of S&SD, and spent nearly two decades at Anglo American Thermal Coal, where responsibilities included General Manager for day-to-day operations of an opencast coal mine and project development for thermal coal projects in South Africa. Leslie started as a Mechanical Engineer and progressed through various engineering and management roles. An alumnus of Stellenbosch University, Leslie earned a B.Ing in Mechanical Engineering, following a Grade 12 education focused on Maths and Science from Kalahari High School.
