Nick Sullivan has a diverse work experience history. Nick started their career as a Maths Tutor in 2012 and then worked as a Coach at Tristar Basketball Camp from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, they had a student placement role at Defence Science and Technology Group, where they focused on satellite dish target tracking and performed tasks such as reviewing electrical diagrams, designing and installing a replacement PCB, and programming a micro-controller for motor control.
In 2015, Nick worked as a Researcher at The University of Adelaide, where they analyzed the viability of current robotic middleware, specifically the Robot Operating System (ROS), for defense purposes. Nick initiated a research agreement with DSTG Land Division during this time.
From 2014 to 2015, Nick had another student placement role at Defence Science and Technology Group, where they implemented and analyzed middleware standards for battery monitoring systems in land vehicles under the supervision of Dr. Mark Jasiunas as part of the Advanced Vehicle Systems (AVS) team.
In 2016, Nick became a Contractor at The University of Adelaide, focusing on contracted projects during their Ph.D. Nick automated a laser-guided pacing system for the Australian Olympic track cycling team and enabled autonomous operation of small sensor-laden vehicles for defense research.
Nick then joined MaxMine in 2019, where they first worked as a Software Engineer and later as a Technical Team Lead. As a Technical Team Lead, they led a small team of developers responsible for data reporting, feature maintenance, and IoT monitoring. Nick performed architecture design and implementation for a Data Lake and Data Warehouse using technologies like Snowflake, Terraform, and dbt. Nick'sduties included product prioritization, project planning, stakeholder management, code reviews, and guiding team member career growth.
Currently, from 2021, Nick is working as a Software Engineer at Tic:Toc.
Nick Sullivan has a strong education background, starting with their completion of a High School degree at Pembroke School from 1999 to 2009. Nick then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering (Honours) and Computer Science at The University of Adelaide from 2010 to 2015. Following this, Nick decided to further advance their knowledge in the field of Robotics and successfully obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from The University of Adelaide between 2016 and 2019.
In addition to their formal education, Nick Sullivan has also acquired some additional certifications. Nick obtained the Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in May 2021. Furthermore, they have obtained an Australian Defence Clearance from AGSVA, although the exact timeline for this certification is not provided.
