Lauren Wheeler

Lauren Wheeler has a diverse work experience in the field of GIS and sustainability. Lauren began their career as a GIS Technician at Timmons Group in January 2018, where they later became a GIS Specialist. In these roles, Lauren analyzed potential solar sites, conducted geospatial analyses, and managed geospatial data.

Prior to their time at Timmons Group, Lauren worked as a Geospatial Analyst at the Urban Sustainability and Equity Center from June 2017 to January 2018. In this role, they conducted research on urban heat islands, analyzed priority neighborhoods using GIS software, and assisted with publications and educational materials.

Lauren's experience also includes positions at James Madison University, where they worked as a Sustainability Research Assistant, Lead Teaching Assistant, Statistics Tutor, and Resident Assistant. As a Sustainability Research Assistant, Lauren collaborated on research projects and publications related to environmental and social sustainability. As a Lead Teaching Assistant, they developed projects focused on self-development and sustainability, created course material, and delivered lectures. Additionally, Lauren served as a Resident Assistant, creating positive communities and organizing events for students.

Furthermore, Lauren gained experience as a GIS and Design Thinking Intern at Kalu Yala. In this role, they created a geodatabase using ArcGIS, converted files, digitized features, and collaborated on a design project.
