Ali Sutton has a diverse and extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Ali currently serves as the Chief Program Officer at Tipping Point Community, where they oversee grant making and impact activities related to poverty-fighting solutions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previously, they held the position of Deputy Secretary for Homelessness at the California Interagency Council on Homelessness, where they led a team and managed the administration of state homelessness funding. Prior to that, Ali worked as the Housing, Homelessness and Civil Rights Branch Chief at the California Department of Social Services, overseeing housing and homelessness programs. Ali has also held roles at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centre for Policy Development, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Feeding America, Albright Stonebridge Group, and the Democratic National Committee. Ali's experience includes policy advising, program management, research, and strategic leadership.

Ali Sutton obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Literature, Science and the Arts from the University of Iowa in 2006. In 2005, while attending Drake University's Scuola di Lorenzo de Medici, Ali achieved a B.A. with distinction in Literature, Science and the Arts. From 2014 to 2016, Ali pursued further education at the University of California, Berkeley, Goldman School of Public Policy, where they obtained a Master of Public Policy degree (MPP).
