Òscar Vilaplana

Óscar Vilaplana has a diverse work experience starting in 2004 when they worked as a Software Engineer at Netfocus. Òscar designed and developed a responsive web application for customer data management and worked on building a GNU/Linux distribution. At Desertic, they developed and maintained J2EE web applications for business management and money laundering detection.

In 2007, Óscar joined Local Billing Ltd. as a Senior Software Engineer. Òscar built a PHP payment gateway integrated with multiple banks and payment providers, a subscription manager, and a credit card encryption daemon for secure storage of credit card numbers.

From 2009 to 2014, they worked at Paylogic International as a Python Architect. Òscar designed and led the development of a distributed, fault-tolerant virtual queue system and a self-documenting REST API. Òscar also assisted development teams with technical designs and evaluations.

Starting in 2014, Óscar worked at SpotMe as a Senior Software Engineer. Òscar was responsible for the server infrastructure and backend software, improving backend architecture to enhance system reliability and performance. Òscar also developed a database redundancy daemon for fault tolerance.

Most recently, in 2017, Óscar joined Tiqets as a Senior Software Engineer and later transitioned into the role of Technical Product Manager in 2022.

Òscar Vilaplana has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UPC / UOC. In 2019, they attended High Tech Institute to improve their leadership skills for architects and other technical leaders. From 2013 to 2016, Òscar Vilaplana studied Creative Writing - Short Fiction at Escola d'Escriptura de l'Ateneu Barcelonès. Additionally, from 2018 to 2021, they pursued Creative Writing - Novel at Escola d'Escriptura de l'Ateneu Barcelonès.
