Ek Kia Tan has extensive work experience in the medical field, starting in 2006 as a Technical Monitor at the Unit for Experimental Psychiatry, School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Ek Kia then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Center for Resuscitation Science, where they contributed to the development of a micro-fluidic oxygenator and compared CPR models. In 2008, Ek Kia joined TissueTech, Inc. and its subsidiaries as a Research and Product Development Specialist. Ek Kia later advanced to the role of Director of Product Development, where they spearheaded the development of novel amniotic membrane and umbilical cord-based therapies, managed the PROKERA DHF (Class II Medical Device), and expanded the IP portfolio. In 2021, Ek Kia joined BioTissue as the Sr. Director of Product Development.
Ek Kia Tan earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2008. Later, from 2011 to 2012, Ek Kia Tan pursued a Master of Science in Engineering Management at Florida International University.
