Mimi Coomler

CEO, Tucson Medical Center at TMC Healthcare

Mimi Coomler serves as chief executive officer for Tucson Medical Center ensuring the day-to-day operational excellence of Tucson's largest hospital and TMC HealthCare's flagship facility, a 628-bed acute-care facility with more than 4,000 employees that opened in 1944.

In her role, Coomler's steady and forward-thinking leadership continues to build upon the culture and quality of care that has defined TMC for many years. Her operational responsibility covers the hospital, including surgery, emergency services, critical care, infection control, and hospice. She has focused expertise in creating partnerships, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and team building.

Her return to TMC in 2017 as the chief operating officer was a homecoming of sorts as Coomler had previously served as the director of patient care services for TMC for Women and TMC for Children from 2006-12. In between, she served as the chief executive officer of Children's Clinics for Rehabilitative Services, a nonprofit multi-specialty clinic that serves as a medical home for children with complex healthcare needs.

With more than 20 years as a registered nurse, she is passionate about improving health throughout Southern Arizona. Children with special health care needs became an area of focus for her after her young son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Coomler is past president of the Southern Arizona Women's Foundation and former board chair of the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
