Karl Lanocha, M.D. has over 25 years of experience in neuromodulation therapies for treatment-resistant depression, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Karl was one of the first physicians in the country to offer TMS when it was approved by the FDA in 2008. Karl served as the Director of TMS Health Education at TMS Health Solutions from 2015. Prior to that, they were the Director of Neuromodulation at Mindful Health Solutions from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Lanocha also worked as the Medical Director at The TMS Center of New England from 2009 to 2013. Karl provided sleep disorder specialist services at Concord Hospital Sleep Disorders Center from 2005 to 2013. Karl served as the Medical Director at Concord Metro Treatment Center and Manchester Metro Treatment Center from 2004 to 2013. In addition, Dr. Lanocha worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at St. Paul's School from 2006 to 2009. Karl also served as the Medical Director at Fresh Start Program - Concord Hospital from 1996 to 2009, where they designed and implemented clinical protocols for outpatient detoxification and rehabilitation. From 1989 to 2009, they worked as the Medical Director at Concord Hospital Behavioral Health Services, providing clinical care on the inpatient unit and overseeing the electroconvulsive therapy program. Karl also served as a Board Member at Behavioral Health Network from 1991 to 2006, and as the Medical Director at Pathfinders Addiction Services from 1986 to 1989.
Dr. Karl Lanocha has an extensive education history. Karl obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Towson University in 1979. Prior to this, from 1973 to 1976, they studied Languages and Linguistics at Jagiellonian University. Dr. Lanocha also attended Georgetown University in 1972 and pursued a degree in Languages and Linguistics there.
In 1982, Dr. Lanocha began their residency in Psychiatry at Sheppard Pratt, which they completed in 1985. Prior to their residency, they obtained their Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1982. During their time at the University of Maryland, they specialized in General Medicine and Psychiatry.
Dr. Lanocha has pursued further education and certifications throughout their career. In 2003 to 2005, they attended the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine to study Sleep Disorders. Additionally, in 2007, they engaged in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy training at the Berenson-Allen Center for Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation, Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center.
Furthermore, Dr. Lanocha has obtained board certifications in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as in Sleep Medicine from the American Board of Sleep Medicine. However, the specific dates of when they obtained these certifications are unavailable.
