Pierre America

Senior Research Fellow at TNO-ESI

Pierre America is a seasoned expert in software-intensive systems with extensive experience in research and system architecture, particularly within the medical application domain during a career spanning over four decades at Philips Research. Currently serving as a Senior Research Fellow at TNO-ESI since January 2024, Pierre previously held the position of Principal Architect at Philips Research, where contributions included data analytics and system architecture for various medical technologies such as X-ray and MRI systems. Additional roles included Senior Scientist focusing on music processing technologies and Research Scientist engaged in the design of parallel object-oriented programming languages. Earlier in the career, Pierre was a Research Fellow at the Embedded Systems Institute, where responsibilities included leading research projects on software evolvability and maritime situational awareness. Pierre holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and an M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Utrecht University.

TNO-ESI is a Dutch Joint Innovation Centre of industry, academia and TNO for high-tech embedded systems design and engineering. It has a close cooperation with high-tech industry, as well as a strong association with fundamental research of academia, both national and international and TNO. By acting as research partner, bridge and integrator, we bring together multi-disciplinary teams of academic and industrial experts to drive future high-tech solutions. COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT Innovation- and design strategy are key topics for any high-tech company. Realization of these topics requires technical top talent with in-depth understanding of the challenges and needs of today’s high-tech product innovation. Our training programs support the participants in developing their architectural and overall professional competencies.
