Andre Faaij is an esteemed researcher and leader in energy system analysis, currently serving as the Director of Science & Technology and Principal Scientist at TNO since November 2018. In addition, Faaij holds positions as a Fellow at the Netherlands Academy of Engineering and as an Executive Committee Member of the European Energy Research Alliance. As Chairman of the Board at the Netherlands Energy Research Alliance and a Professor at Utrecht University's Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development, Faaij's research encompasses areas such as renewable energy technologies, sustainability assessments, and energy system modeling. Faaij has held various academic roles since 1998 and has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as an IPCC Scientist, leading significant chapters in their assessment reports. Faaij earned a Ph.D. in Energy Sciences and a Master's degree in Chemistry & Environmental Sciences from Utrecht University.
