Nick Barkas has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Nick has worked at various companies, including Toca Boca, HID Global, Clavister AB, Spotify, Plausible Labs Cooperative, Inc., Three Rings Design, Berkeley Lab, U.S. Forest Service, LiveJournal, and Speakeasy.

At Toca Boca, Nick currently works as a Software Developer in the Central Tech team. Nick specializes in iOS development and focuses on maintaining live services and increasing developer productivity for game teams.

Nick also worked as a Programmer/Analyst at Berkeley Lab, providing computing support to astrophysicists. Nick maintained a computational cluster, database server, web server, and Linux workstations.

At the U.S. Forest Service, Nick served as a System Administrator, where they managed Linux systems and a 20-node Linux cluster running meteorological models.

At LiveJournal, Nick was a System Administrator, responsible for maintaining a network of Linux-based machines serving over a million blogs. Nick also developed and maintained monitoring and centralized logging systems.

At Speakeasy, a national ISP, Nick worked as a System Administrator, maintaining Linux servers, DNS caches, RADIUS servers, proxies, and game servers. Nick also worked with Cisco and Redback switches and other network hardware.

Nick Barkas received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington between 2002 and 2005. Nick then pursued a Master's degree in Scientific Computing from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2010.
