Steven McNamara

Steven McNamara is a distinguished Tokamak Science Director and Physics Programme Manager at Tokamak Energy Ltd since October 2016, where efforts focus on advancing fusion energy through spherical tokamaks and high-temperature superconductors. Prior to this role, Steven gained valuable experience as a Plasma Physicist at the Royal Academy of Engineering and held a prestigious JSPS Post Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Tokyo, concentrating on solenoid-free plasma startup research. Steven completed a PhD in Plasma Physics and an MSc in Physics at Imperial College London, where significant research involved exploring non-electrical applications of nuclear fusion and enhancing understanding of plasma and tokamak physics. Early career contributions include engineering roles at Rolls-Royce Fuel Cells Ltd., where innovative test reporting processes were developed, alongside web development for improved internal communications in the Engineering & Technology sector.
