John (JD) Dyke retired from Special Forces in October 2021, after 26 years of Army service.
JD was commissioned in the Infantry in 1995, serving with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) and the 3rd Battalion, 75th Rangers. He was selected for Special Forces in 1999 and, in support of America’s Global War on Terrorism after September 11th, conducted six combat deployments with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. JD’s awards include the Legion of Merit, five Bronze Star Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, a Valorous Unit Award, a Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
JD is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He holds a Masters of Defense Analysis from the Navy Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, and a Masters of National Security Strategy from the National Defense University, Washington D.C. JD lives in Clarksville, Tennessee, with his wife, Katie, and their two sons, Will and Ben.
