Michael Black is an instructor at Tomahawk Strategic Solutions and has experience serving in the United States Navy and the New York City Police Department.
Mr. Black is a native of St. James, NY. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1999, where he became an Aviation Warfare Systems Operator/Rescue Swimmer. As a SAR Swimmer, he deployed overseas twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom before separating in 2004. During his two tours he has received multiple awards and recognition for rescuing downed pilots and assisting combat teams in boarding vessels in the North Arabian Gulf.
Mr. Black joined the NYPD in 2005 and has been a member of the Emergency Service Unit since 2012. He is currently assigned as a Detective in ESU squad 8 located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. During his time in ESU, Mr. Black has participated in multiple real-world operations including high-risk search/arrest warrants, barricaded subjects, and apprehension of emotional disturbed persons. He has become a member of ESU's ship boarding team which ensures safe passage of passenger and commercial ships in the NY Waterways. Mr. Black has also helped start ESU's Explosive Breaching program which started in October of 2018.
