Alexander Damen

Alexander Damen has extensive experience in the field of artificial intelligence, currently serving as Team Lead for the AI team at TOMRA since November 2018. In this role, Alexander supports the enhancement of food sorters through deep learning and the development of scalable model processes. Previous positions include Product Owner, focusing on customer value creation for the XCD sorter platform, and Application Engineer, where improvements were made to the flagship 5C machine. Earlier experience includes roles as Trainee Engineering Production at Umicore, Master Thesis Student at TOMRA, Process Engineer at Manna Foods N.V., Head of Student Bookstore at KULeuven, and a project on solar energy tiles at PlasTile. Alexander holds a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence from KU Leuven as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Bioscience Engineering, signifying a robust academic background in engineering and computer science.
