Over his 40 year career, Eric Levine founded and built three software companies, all of which were acquired after achieving significant revenue and employee growth. Each of those companies worked with new and innovative leading-edge technologies. Eric has been responsible for architecting and building software products, managing design, development and testing, and recruiting and building staff. He has extensive experience in business, accounting, and finance systems.
Eric began his career as a software engineer. He founded Business Systems Research (BSR), a DEC Business OEM, in 1975 to develop business applications. BSR developed turn-key systems for distribution and manufacturing business and had a division that became the market leader in supplying systems to Custom House Brokers and International Freight Forwarders. In 1980, BSR was acquired by ADP and became the International Trade division. After leaving ADP, Eric co-founded Layered, Inc., the developer of the first graphical user interface accounting software suite. Layered established dominant market share in its target market and was acquired by Peachtree Software. Eric then founded Flashpoint, Inc., a software development company that developed products for software companies and publishers, from specification through product-ship. He built and ran Flashpoint for 12 years prior to its acquisition by Bottomline Technologies in 2000. At Bottomline, Eric headed the division responsible for all aspects of their Electronic Invoice Presentment and Payments System.
Eric attended Carnegie Mellon University and UMass Lowell and holds a BSEE degree. He also holds a Masters of Engineering Management degree from Northeastern University.
