Feng (Albert) Yang began their career in 1981 as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Harbin Institute of Technology, where they taught DSP, pattern recognition, and image processing courses to undergrads and grads. In 1991, they joined Array Computing as a DSP Engineer, where they worked on satellite imaging, sonar, and DSP-based radar scan converter. Feng (Albert) then moved to Nortel in 1992, where they were a MSS, Software Architect. In 1996, they joined Opti, Inc. as a Sr. DSP Engineer, followed by Techwell in 1997 as Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. In 2000, they co-founded Fortemedia, where they developed low-cost IC and other products and popularized a small microphone array. Finally, in 2006, they founded Topaz Labs and served as Founder, President, and CTO. During their time at Topaz Labs, they aimed to reduce the gap between new technologies and effective tools for photographers. After over 15 years of nurturing Topaz Labs, they stepped down and became an Adviser.
Feng (Albert) Yang obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Image Processing and Pattern Recognition from the Harbin Institute of Technology from 1977 to 1981. Feng (Albert) then went on to complete their Ph.D. in Computer Vision at the University of Waterloo.
