Mark McKnight has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Mark is currently serving as the Chief Information Officer at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked for the Regional Municipality of Durham from November 2016 to November 2021, where they held the position of Manager, Application and GIS Services. From 2000 to 2014, Mark McKnight worked at York Region as the Manager of Corporate and Business Systems. In this position, they managed business applications and developed initiatives to maximize the return from corporate and departmental systems. Mark also led various strategic planning and delivery initiatives, such as enterprise systems, business intelligence, asset management, and information management.
Prior to their role at York Region, Mark McKnight worked at Deloitte as a Manager in the PeopleSoft Consulting division from 1997 to 2000. Here, they led implementations and upgrades for clients in different industries and provided support for functional and technical impact assessments.
Mark McKnight began their career at Canadian Tire as a Business Analyst and Marketing Analyst in the Petroleum Division from 1994 to 1997. Their responsibilities included providing decision and analytical support to multiple clients and developing performance reporting and analysis databases.
Overall, Mark McKnight has a diverse background with experience in leadership, strategic planning, project management, business development, and consulting in the fields of information technology, GIS services, and corporate systems.
Mark McKnight obtained a Master's Certificate in Public Sector Management from Ontario Tech University in 2017-2018. Prior to that, they completed an MBA at York University in 1993-1994, specializing in Marketing, Arts Administration, and Policy. Mark also holds a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, which they earned between 1988 and 1992, with a focus on Marketing, Human Resources, and Administration.

With more than 60 years of experience, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario, created to safeguard and enhance the health and well-being of watershed communities through the protection and restoration of the natural environment and the ecological services the environment provides.
