Derek Sutton

Derek Sutton serves as the Chief Information Security Officer for the Toronto Transit Commission since October 2025, leading a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect transit operations and customer data across a major urban network. Prior to this role, Derek contributed as the Director of IT - Infrastructure, Security, & Operational Excellence at SickKids Foundation from August 2017 to October 2025, where strategic leadership in cybersecurity and digital transformation was provided. Derek's previous experience includes significant IT management positions at Sanofi, where responsibilities encompassed oversight of the Canadian Vaccines Site and IT project leadership in industrial operations, as well as foundational roles at ING Nederland and ING Bank of Canada focusing on help desk and application support. Derek's educational background features a BA Hons from the University of Toronto and advanced management courses at McGill University.
