Scott Semer

Scott Semer is a Partner at Torys LLP, where expertise includes advising sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, private equity funds, and other sophisticated investors on investment structuring. As an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School since 2003, Scott teaches the Deals Workshop, focusing on the structuring of business transactions to minimize costs and enhance strategic behavior. Previous experience includes a partnership at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, where Scott developed a novel REIT structure for a sovereign wealth fund, and as a Tax Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, providing tax opinions on financial derivatives and project finance deals.
