Siyabonga Mahlangu has a diverse work experience in various companies. Siyabonga started their career at Vodacom as a Call Center Agent in 2005 before moving on to T-Systems South Africa as a Java Developer in 2007. Siyabonga then joined Momentum as a Desktop Support Technician in 2008, and later transitioned to become a Java Application Developer, working on projects involving HTML, JSP, and JEE technologies. In 2011, they joined Metropolitan as a Lead Java/Integration Developer, where they implemented business processes using IBM BPM and developed front-end and mobile applications. Siyabonga returned to Momentum in 2013 and held various roles, including Senior Java Software Engineer, Development Team Lead and Architect, and Head of Information Technology for Wellness Enablement in Momentum Multiply. In 2020, they became the Chief Information Officer at Momentum Multiply. Siyabonga then moved to Telesure Investment Holdings (TIH) in 2021, where they were the Head of IT Financial Services. Siyabonga's most recent position is the Chief Information Officer at Liberty Health, which they started in 2023.

Siyabonga Mahlangu has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from Cida City Campus, which they completed from 2003 to 2007. Siyabonga also obtained several certifications in Information Technology, including Sun Certified Java Programmer, Comptia A+ Hardware and Software, and Comptia N+ Networking, all from Cida City Campus in 2004 and 2005. In 2007, Siyabonga Mahlangu achieved the Sun Certified Web Component Developer for Java 2 EE Platform certification from Cida City Campus. Most recently, in 2018, they earned the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from FOX ITSM.
