Usman Umar

Usman Umar is an accomplished geologist with extensive experience in exploration and subsurface geology, particularly in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea. Between July 2010 and December 2015, Usman served at Total as an Exploration Geologist, contributing to the discovery of the Owowo deep-water field and advancing multiple complex prospects to drillable status. Prior roles include Lead Integrated Operation Planner at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Trainee Geologist at ExxonMobil, where Usman gained expertise in petrophysical interpretation and 3D seismic data analysis. Additionally, Usman held a research fellowship at the Payne Institute for Public Policy, focusing on gas development in Sub-Saharan Africa and tools for analyzing emerging gas markets. Usman holds a Master's degree in Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines, earned between 2017 and 2019.
