Deepthi Shri Parvatharaj

Scientist at Touchlight Genetics

Deepthi Shri Parvatharaj's work experience includes various roles and projects in the field of biology and genetics.

From November 2022, they worked as an Associate DNA Purification Scientist at Touchlight.

Prior to that, from November 2021 to September 2022, they worked as a Project Student at The University of Sheffield. In this role, they conducted research on using Zebrafish to study TAZ-CAMTA1. Deepthi Shri gained hands-on experience with microinjection, in situ hybridization, molecular techniques such as Plasmid digestion and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and agarose gel electrophoresis. Deepthi Shri also handled Zebrafish setup, performed embryo collection and dechorination, and conducted advanced cloning techniques for plasmid construction. Additionally, they were well-versed in sterile microbiological techniques for bacterial culture maintenance and growth. Deepthi Shri also learned LASV4 during this role.

Deepthi Shri also worked as a kiosk and retail staff at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club from January 2022 to August 2022, and as waiting staff at INOX Dine, Student's Union from December 2021 to August 2022.

In the past, they had an internship and final project at AviGen BioTech Pvt Ltd. from December 2020 to March 2021. Deepthi Shri conducted a research project on the extraction and characterization of Type-I collagen and its potential applications as biopolymeric films loaded with biosynthesized silver nanoparticles for tissue engineering. Deepthi Shri gained hands-on experience in molecular biology and tissue engineering, particularly in the extraction of collagen from rat tail and molecular techniques.

Deepthi Shri also had brief project-based roles as a Project Student at IndiSeq Genomics in October and November 2019, and as an Internship Trainee at Baba Clinical and Genomic Research Centre in January 2019.

Deepthi Shri Parvatharaj completed their Master's degree in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at The University of Sheffield from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Technology in Genetic Engineering from Bharath University, which they attended from 2017 to 2021. In 2016-2017, they completed their Class 12 education at Sri Sankara Vidhyashramam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, with a focus on Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Science-Biology/Zoology, French, and Sanskrit. Deepthi's Class 10 education was completed at Bharath Dass Matriculation Higher Secondary School in 2014-2015, where they studied Mathematics, Science, and Social subjects. Deepthi Shri also holds several additional certifications, including participation in national conferences and workshops, such as the National Conference on "Recent Trends in Lifestyle Disease Management" at Vel's Institute of Science, Technology, and Advanced Studies in February 2020, the National Conference on "Recent Innovation in Biotechnology" at Arupadai Veedu Institute of Technology in November 2019, a workshop on "Molecular Modelling and Drug Designing" at SRM University in February 2019, and a national level symposium on "Recent Advances in Genetic Engineering" at Bharath University in October 2017.
