Carter Bates

Carter Bates is an Innovation Engineer in Training at Tourmaline Oil Corp, specializing in operational efficiency and emissions improvement projects across the natural gas production lifecycle. Since May 2019, Carter has led initiatives including supervising technology testing for the NGIF Emissions Testing Centre and managing a $22 million ESG budget. Previously, as a Technology & Optimization Intern Engineer, Carter developed a drilling rig hybrid power generation project that secured a $3.2 million grant and actively contributed to various emissions reduction initiatives. Prior experiences include a role as Project and Process Support Engineer at K+S Windsor Salt Ltd. and as an Intern Production Engineer at Tourmaline Oil Corp. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is pursuing a Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership at Queen's University.
