Sergio Guzman-Lara

Sergio Guzman-Lara has an extensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. Sergio began their career as a Research Assistant at the Adaptive Networks Lab, Computer Science Department in UMASS in 1992. Sergio then moved on to work as a Senior Software Engineer at Sovereign Hill Software and later at Dataware Technologies. In 1999, they joined PADRÃO iX as the VP of Development before transitioning to a Senior Software Engineer role at Chiliad Publishing Inc. Sergio also served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval at UMASS from 2001 to 2005. Sergio then worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Chiliad Publishing from 2005 to 2014. Following this, they served as a Technical Lead at MindTree from 2014 to 2019, where they were involved in various projects related to airline websites and web services. In 2019, Sergio joined Availity as part of the Authorization & Referrals Team before transitioning to their current role as a Senior Software Engineer at Tower Hill Insurance Group.

Sergio Guzman-Lara began their education journey in 1980 at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Sergio successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 1985. Later, in 1990, Sergio enrolled at the University of Massachusetts Amherst to further their education. There, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, concluding their studies in 1993. Sergio continued their academic pursuits at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and became a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science, a position they hold to the present day.
