Marianne Fleckner has a diverse work experience spanning over several government organizations in Massachusetts. Starting in 1994, they worked as a Human Resources Compensation Analyst in the Department of State Police, where they played a key role in creating a classification and compensation management plan for civilian personnel. In 1995, they became the Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the Governor and held this position until 1998. Following this, they joined the Human Resources Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where they worked as a Functional Manager on a PeopleSoft HR and Compensation Management system project. In 2000, they became the Deputy Commissioner in the Department of Public Health and subsequently transitioned to the role of Assistant Commissioner of Administration and Finance in the Department of Conservation and Recreation in 2005. Finally, in 2008, they became the Human Resources Director in the Town of Acton, where they currently serve.

Marianne Fleckner acquired a Master of Business Administration Certificate in Business Management from the University of Massachusetts Lowell between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, they gained a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Bentley University from 1986 to 1988. Marianne also holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Business Management, a minor in Marketing, and a concentration in French Literature from Westfield State University in 1985. Additionally, they completed a Residential Certificate Program for Senior-Level Executives in State Government at Harvard University. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in February 2020.
