Kara Brewton

Director Of Planning & Community Development at TOWN OF BROOKLINE

Kara Brewton began their work experience in 1998 as a Civil Engineer at Watts & Browning. Kara then worked as an Environmental Planner at Carter & Burgess from 1999 to 2002. Continuing their career, Brewton joined Thorndike Development as a Project Manager in 2004 until 2008. In the same year, they started working at the Town of Brookline as an Economic Development Director. Kara took on the role of Acting Director of Planning & Community Development at the Town of Brookline from 2012 to 2013. Currently, Brewton holds the position of Director of Planning & Community Development at the Town of Brookline since October 2021.

Kara Brewton completed their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology from 1993 to 1997. Kara then went on to pursue their Master's degree in Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design from 2002 to 2004. In addition, they obtained a certification as a Civil Engineer from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and of Land Surveyors in June 2003.
