Kenneth Cox has a diverse work experience, starting in 2005 as a Mail Clerk/Print Room/Ministries Coordinator at Christ the Rock Community Church. From 2006 to 2011, they worked in Construction/Restoration at Cox Insurance Repair. In 2006, they also started their role as a Lifeguard at the City of Hollywood, Florida, eventually becoming a Senior Lifeguard and then a Pool Supervisor-Lifeguard-Swim Coordinator. In 2011, they joined the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) as an IAFF Executive Board member, involved in labor negotiations, policy review, and grievance representation. From 2009 to 2021, they served in various positions at the Town of Davie Fire Rescue Department, including Firefighter/Paramedic, Driver/Engineer, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, and Battalion Chief. In 2014, they also became a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team Member, involved in rescue missions and logistics planning for natural disasters and terrorist acts.

Kenneth Cox's education history begins in 2006 when they attended Broward College and obtained an Associate of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services, which they completed in 2008. Kenneth then pursued further education at Barry University, where they enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in Emergency Management specializing in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management. This program started in 2018 and is expected to conclude in 2023.

In addition to their formal education, Kenneth has obtained several certifications to enhance their expertise. Kenneth acquired the Logistics Specialist certification from FEMA in December 2016. In July 2019, they obtained certifications such as Fire Officer III Certification and Fire Service Instructor II Proboard, accredited by the Division of State Fire Marshal and the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications Inc. respectively. Kenneth also received certifications from Rescue 3 International, including Swiftwater Rescue Technician-Unit 1, Swiftwater Technician Advanced, Swiftwater Rescue Flood Technician, and Swiftwater Rescue Technician-Advanced. These certifications were obtained in October 2018, April 2021, October 2018, and October 2018, respectively.

Moreover, Kenneth earned certifications from various institutions in 2019. This includes the Basic Public Information Officer G-290 from the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Technical Info Specialist and Plans Team from FEMA, and Fire Service Instructor and Fire Service Instructor II from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. Additionally, they completed the Fire Instructor I PROBOARD certification from the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications Inc. in July 2019.

Kenneth's commitment to professional development is apparent with certifications achieved in 2020 and 2022. Kenneth received the Fire Instructor I certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal, and in 2022, they obtained the Plans Team certification from FEMA.

Lastly, in January 2019, Kenneth completed the AMC Airlift Planners Course-ICODES Load Planner Certification with the United States Department of the Air Force.
