Chris Burns has over 30 years of experience in the field of building regulations and enforcement. Chris has held various roles with different municipalities and organizations throughout their career. Chris'smost recent position was Deputy Chief Building Official with the Town of East Gwillimbury, which they started in 2021. Prior to that, they worked as Supervisor of Plans Examination at the Town of Richmond Hill from 2018 to 2021 and as Senior Building Inspector from 1997 to 2018. Chris also served as a Member of the Committee of Adjustment with the Town of Georgina starting in 2008. Additionally, Chris held the position of Senior Building Inspector with the Town of Whitchurch Stouffville from 1990 to 1997. Chris was also involved with the Knights of Columbus, where they served as Deputy Grand Knight from 2004 to 2012.

Chris Burns completed a Professional Management Certificate from Ontario Tech University in 2019. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1990, they attended Centennial College where they obtained a degree in Architectural Technology. In addition to their education, Chris also holds various certifications including Qualified Designer and Qualified Inspector from the Ontario Province of, Canadian Registered Building Official from the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials Association, Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario from the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (AATO), and a Certified Building Code Official from the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA).
