Matthew Carey

Matthew Carey is an experienced Geographic Information System Administrator and GIS Developer currently employed by the Town of Hilton Head Island since April 2021. Previous roles include Programs Administrator at South Island PSD, where responsibilities involved managing GIS operations and leading cyber security awareness programs, and GIS Analyst/Asset Manager for the Town of Bluffton, overseeing asset management software and GIS programs for stormwater and drainage systems. Matthew Carey also served as a GIS Specialist for JHT, Inc. at NOAA Beaufort Marine Lab, a Geospatial Analyst for The Baldwin Group at NOAA Coastal Services Center, and a Graduate Assistant at East Carolina University. Matthew Carey holds a Master’s Degree in Geography from East Carolina University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from the University of South Carolina.
