Ethan Smith is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in public information and media relations. Currently serving as the Communications Manager and Public Information Officer for the Town of Huntersville since June 2023, Ethan previously held the position of Senior Communications Specialist for Union County, NC, and worked as a Public Information Officer for the City of Morganton, where responsibilities included overseeing communication materials and launching multiple city websites. Earlier in their career, Ethan gained valuable experience as a reporter for Goldsboro News-Argus and USA TODAY, and as News Editor for The Pendulum during undergraduate studies at Elon University, where Ethan earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.

Town of Huntersville

The Town of Huntersville is one of the fastest growing communities in North Carolina with a population of over 60,000. Huntersville is an excellent place to live, work and play. The town is a residential destination for many families, boasts excellent shopping centers, first rate medical and recreation amenities, and continues to attract new industry to the area. In addition, Huntersville’s location in the larger metropolitan area provides easy access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, professional sports venues, outstanding arts and cultural opportunities, many race headquarters and tracks, and access to Lake Norman. The town was incorporated in 1873 and operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The Town Board of Commissioners consists of a mayor and six commissioners. The Town has 180 plus employees working in six departments: Administration/Finance, Engineering, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning, and Police. In addition, the town works closely with the volunteer fire department (Huntersville Fire), the regional economic development agency (Lake Norman Economic Development), and two enterprise funded organizations (Electricities and Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics).
