Town of Huntersville

The Town of Huntersville is one of the fastest growing communities in North Carolina with a population of over 60,000. Huntersville is an excellent place to live, work and play. The town is a residential destination for many families, boasts excellent shopping centers, first rate medical and recreation amenities, and continues to attract new industry to the area. In addition, Huntersville’s location in the larger metropolitan area provides easy access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, professional sports venues, outstanding arts and cultural opportunities, many race headquarters and tracks, and access to Lake Norman. The town was incorporated in 1873 and operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The Town Board of Commissioners consists of a mayor and six commissioners. The Town has 180 plus employees working in six departments: Administration/Finance, Engineering, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning, and Police. In addition, the town works closely with the volunteer fire department (Huntersville Fire), the regional economic development agency (Lake Norman Economic Development), and two enterprise funded organizations (Electricities and Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics).
