Fire Rescue Chief at Town of Kernersville

R. Scott Alderman has a diverse work history in fire and rescue services. R. Scott began their career as a firefighter in the Town of Kernersville in 1991, where they performed various duties including driving and operating fire engines and aerial apparatus. In 1997, they moved on to become an Assistant Fire Marshal for Forsyth County. In this role, they investigated fires, worked with law enforcement agencies, and provided fire and life safety education to communities. In 2002, Alderman became the Fire Chief for the Lewisville Fire Department, where they managed a team of employees and volunteers and oversaw services such as fire, rescue, and hazardous materials response. R. Scott held this position until 2017. Alderman then returned to the Town of Kernersville in 2019 as the Fire Rescue Chief. Additionally, throughout their career, they have also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College, providing instruction and facilitating learning for college students.

R. Scott Alderman's education history is as follows:

From 2001 to 2004, they attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Fire Engineering. During the same period, they also studied at the National Fire Academy and completed a program to become an Executive Fire Officer.

In 2009 to 2010, they attended the UNC School of Government, focusing on Municipal Administration, although the degree obtained is not specified.

Prior to their university education, from 1998 to 2000, they attended Guilford Technical Community College and earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Fire Protection.

In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications. In 1991, they became a Firefighter and acquired the qualification of Hazardous Materials Responder - Operations Level, both through the NC Office of the State Fire Marshal. R. Scott also received the title of Emergency Medical Technician, although the institution where it was obtained is not specified. Moreover, they achieved the certification of Fire Officer IV, issued by the NC Office of the State Fire Marshal.
