Ricardo Carlos has a diverse background in various industries, including technology services, information systems, and engineering.
Starting in 2002, they worked as an Engineering Intern at GE Transportation, managing projects to improve engineering efficiency through IT resources and automation.
From 2003 to 2014, Ricardo worked at IBM in multiple roles. As a Staff Software Engineer, they led a team to test the N series product line and improve product reliability and interoperability. Ricardo later became a Quality/Warranty Program Manager, responsible for driving quality improvements and cost reductions for IBM's Network Attached Storage (NAS) product line. Lastly, as a Manager for XIV and Data Protection & Retention System Test, they managed a team based in Arizona and Mexico, focusing on quality assurance and customer satisfaction.
In 2006, Ricardo served as the Region 2 Vice President for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, where they represented professional and student members, implemented organizational changes, and led a team to create membership value propositions.
From 2014 to 2022, Ricardo worked at The University of Arizona as an Associate Director for Information Systems. In this role, they managed multiple teams and systems, including IT, Meal Plans, CatCash Office, and Web Development. Ricardo implemented disaster recovery and information security procedures and collaborated with other departments to improve services and capabilities for the campus community.
Most recently, Ricardo joined the Town of Marana in 2022 as the Director of Technology Services.
Ricardo Carlos completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at California State University, Long Beach, from 1998 to 2003. Following that, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Arizona from 2006 to 2008. Additionally, during the same period, they also completed an MBA with a focus on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Arizona - Eller College of Management.
