Town of Northlake
John Thomson (MPA, CGFO) currently serves as the Finance Director and Budget Coordinator for the Town of Northlake since November 2022, after previously working as a Government Services Consultant for Bronner Group, LLC. Prior experience includes roles as a Management Analyst for the Town of Northlake and Project Lead at Texas A&M University, where leadership of a graduate research team resulted in actionable improvements for the City of Bryan. Thomson also contributed as an Executive Services Graduate Assistant for the City of Bryan, Campaign Manager for Steve Walston's election campaign, and Administrative Assistant for the United Utah Party, among other roles. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Public Service and Administration from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University, complemented by several minors. Currently enrolled at the University of Illinois Springfield, Thomson is pursuing a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government.

The Town of Northlake is a home rule municipality located in southwest Denton County, Texas. The Town of Northlake boasts a full-time police department with 24-hour coverage. Northlake continues to benefit from economic growth as development presses from Fort Worth to the south and from Denton to the north. The major commercial area of Northlake at 35W and SH 114 provides opportunity for most business types from restaurants, retailers, and hotels to distributors and manufacturers. In addition to many large estate lot neighborhoods, Northlake hosts four master-planned communities: Harvest at FM 407 and 35W, Canyon Falls at FM 1171 and 35W, Pecan Square south of FM 407, and The Ridge south of Robson Ranch. The northwest quadrant of Northlake preserves a scenic rural setting surrounding Denton Creek riparian zone.
