Gideon B. has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Gideon began their career in 1997 as a User Experience Designer at Oyster Partners, where they focused on early methods for User Experience (UE) design and developed their skills in visual design, typography, and brand experience. From 1998 to 2004, Gideon worked at the BBC, where they played a pivotal role in implementing user-centered design approaches and mentoring designers, developers, and producers in this methodology.
In 2004, they joined Skype as a Senior User Experience Designer, where they worked on global online marketing initiatives, including the re-architecture of the Skype website. Gideon utilized analytics and user research to inform interaction models, brand execution, and design language.
After their tenure at Skype, Gideon joined Rightster (t5m) as a Consultant, where they collaborated with the Microsoft Accelerator project team to develop a platform featuring a social network-based media delivery environment with high-profile clients such as Disney and the Brits.
In 2008, Gideon became the Vice President of Design at Songkick, where they played a key role in scaling the business from a small team to 130 employees, with millions of monthly active users and over $100 million in Gross Transaction Volume (GTV) annually. Gideon established the product design team, created the brand, and integrated design thinking and brand experience concepts into the organization.
From 2016 to 2017, Gideon worked as the Director of Product Design at Lantum, where they made significant contributions by hiring and building the design team, defining the product process and organization structure, and implementing lean methodologies. Gideon also led a re-branding strategy and collaborated with external branding consultants.
In 2017, Gideon joined dopay as the Chief Design Officer, responsible for leading and managing the product design team and enhancing product capabilities. Gideon later served as the Vice President of Design and interim Head of Product, playing both a leadership and individual contributor role in designing interfaces and driving the product design team's growth.
In 2019, they became a Design Standards Board Member at General Assembly, and since 2020 they have been an Investor and Advisor at MyUpside. Gideon'smost recent role is the Head of User Experience and Product Design at Toyota Connected Europe, a position they have held since December 2018.
Gideon B. pursued their higher education starting from 1988 to 1990 at Farnham College, where they focused on studying Art, Technical Drawing, and History. Following this, from 1991 to 1992, they attended West Surrey College of Art & Design, completing a Foundation Course in Art & Design with a specialization in Graphic Design. Gideon then enrolled at the University of Southampton from 1992 to 1995, where they obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design, specializing in interaction design. Gideon'seducational journey continued at the College of MultiMedia in 2002 to 2003, where they completed a course in European Concept Development for Interactive Multimedia.
