Melissa Dutz is a PhD student and NSF CSGrad4US Fellow at the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, advised by Avrim Blum since September 2022. Prior to this, Melissa worked as a Software Engineer on the Differentiable Programming team at Facebook from August 2018 to October 2021. At Pomona College, Melissa served as a Computer Science Teaching Assistant, Computer Science Department Liaison, and a Computer Science Research Assistant, focusing on text simplification research in the health and medical domain. Additionally, Melissa interned as a Software Engineer at Twilio Inc. in 2017, where innovations included a service for detecting sensitive information and compliance tools related to GDPR. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Pomona College, earned in 2018.
