Dan Neil started their career in 1996 as a Programmer at Codemasters. Dan then worked as a Lead Programmer at Intelligent Games from 1997 to 2001. In 2002, they joined MixMax as the Design/Audio/Technical Director, where they designed and coded a PlayStation 2 music creation game. Dan also initiated and nurtured relationships with international partners. In 2007, they founded Crossfade Productions Ltd and identified talented music producers within the UK mashup and DJ communities. The company eventually became FreeStyleGames, where they served as the Music Director from 2008 to 2011. During this time, they led the creation of DJ Hero and oversaw a large network of audio contributors. In 2011, they joined Toys For Bob as the Audio Director, responsible for overseeing all aspects of voiceovers, music, and sound effects. Dan later became the Creative Director, contributing to game design and innovation for Skylanders and representing the brand in various events.

Dan Neil attended The University of Edinburgh from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained their MSc in Astrophysics. No further information about their field of study during this period is available.
