Defne Budak Elci has extensive work experience in the field of foreign trade. Defne started their career at PMS Aluminyum in 2002 as a Foreign Trade Specialist. From 2004 to 2012, they worked at Miralbueno Otomotiv Yan San.Ltd.Sti. in various roles, including Foreign Trade Head. In this position, they were responsible for managing all export and import processes, communication with clients worldwide, logistics coordination, financial planning, and coordinating various departments. In 2014, they joined ABC Deterjan San. ve Tic. A.S. and Bosch Rexroth as a Foreign Trade Expert, before transitioning to their current role as a Senior Trade Operation Expert at Trade Technologies, Inc. starting in 2019.

Defne Budak Elci has a diverse educational background. Defne obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Business Administration and Management, General from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2012-2013. Prior to that, they attended Anglia Ruskin University from 2000 to 2002, where they studied English Language and Literature. Their undergraduate studies took place at Uludag University from 1994 to 2002, where they pursued a degree in Agricultural Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Defne Budak Elci has obtained several certifications. In 2019, they received the B1 Telc Zertifikat Deutsch-Test from the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge. In 2014, they received certifications in Customs Services and Foreign Trade from UniCertificate. Prior to that, in 2011, they completed the Dış Ticaret Uzmanlık Eğitimi from T.C Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı / Uludağ İhracatçı Birlikleri. In 2010, they acquired certificates in Informe Pedagógico and Lengua y Cultura Españolas from Enforex Centro de Estudios Internacionales. Lastly, in 2002, they obtained an English for Business certificate from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board (LCCI).
