Andrew Western

A lifelong Trafford resident, he is the Leader of Trafford Council and has been a local councillor representing Sale Town Centre since 2011. Andrew is also the Greater Manchester Portfolio lead for the GMCA Green City-Region. Andrew’s professional background is in project management, predominantly in civil engineering specialising in supporting the delivery of large scale infrastructure programmes.

He has also worked on IT transformation projects including at Manchester Airport Group. In addition to his work as Leader of Trafford Council and on Green City Region Andrew sits on the North West Regional Leaders’ Board, serves on the Board of a local mental health charity and is the Vice President of a Trafford-based youth association. Andrew is also a non-executive director of Trafford Housing Trust and is a member of the LGA Improvement and Innovation Board.
