Sarah Barnes

Sarah Barnes has a diverse work experience. Sarah started their career in 2016 as a Mac Lab Assistant at the University of Lynchburg. In this role, they assisted graphic design and photography students to brainstorm design improvements and provided technical support for Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Sarah also managed calendar events and social media content for the Art Honor Society. In 2018, they joined SAS as a Digital Experience and Creative Intern. In this role, they developed, communicated, and enforced standards and policies for governance of sas.com global web properties and provided support and training for required changes and enhancements to US content. In 2020, they became the Owner of On And Up Design LLC. In 2021, they joined the Institute for Transportation Research and Education as a Marketing and Communications Associate. In this role, they curated content for social media, tracked transportation-related communication trends, and monitored audience engagement analytics. Sarah also assisted with short-term graphic design and communication planning, including the redesign of the strategic plan. In the same year, they also joined Krupp Kommunications, Inc. as a Marketing Intern. In this role, they managed Krupp's Instagram (posts and stories) and assisted with other social media platforms. Sarah also monitored for trends in the PR, lifestyle, wellness, and literary industries to ensure social content fit Krupp's clients' audiences. In 2022, they joined Training Industry, Inc. as a B2B Marketing Specialist.

Sarah Barnes obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing with double minors in Graphic Design and Electronic Media from the University of Lynchburg in 2020. Sarah then pursued a Master of Science in Technical Communication from North Carolina State University, which they are currently enrolled in and is expected to complete in 2022. Additionally, Sarah has obtained a certification in Project Management for Designers from LinkedIn in June 2021 and is certified in Microsoft Office Specialist (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
