Nicholas Msibi

Chief Operating Officer at Trans-Africa Projects

Nicholas Msibi has a wealth of experience in various roles and industries. Nicholas has worked at Trans-Africa Projects since 2015, starting as the Executive Manager Engineering and Projects and then moving up to the role of Chief Operating Officer. In October 2019, they became the Managing Director of the company.

In addition to their role at Trans-Africa Projects, Nicholas has served as an Alternate Non-Executive Director at the South African Electrotechnical Export Council since February 2017, representing Trans-Africa Projects and advising on export opportunities.

Nicholas has also held positions as a Non-Executive Director at .ZA Domain Name Authority since March 2015 and as an Audit Committee Member at Emalahleni Local Municipality since February 2016.

Nicholas has been an Industry Advisory Board Member at the University of Johannesburg since September 2017, providing guidance and expertise.

Before joining Trans-Africa Projects and these other organizations, Nicholas worked at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. Nicholas held various roles there, including Engineering Section Manager and Group Engineering Manager. Nicholas successfully implemented initiatives to improve asset management and saved the company a significant amount of money.

Nicholas Msibi has an extensive education history. Nicholas began their studies in 1996 at Tshwane University of Technology, where they pursued a National Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After completing this program in 1998, Nicholas went on to enroll at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 2000. Here, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which they completed in 2004.

Continuing their education, Nicholas pursued a Post Graduate Diploma at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2005 to 2006, focusing on Industrial Engineering. In the same year, they attended the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria again, completing a short program known as a MDP (Management Development Program) in Business Administration and Management.

Nicholas further enhanced their business knowledge by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science). Nicholas attended this school from 2009 to 2010, studying Business Administration and Management, General.

Through their educational journey, Nicholas has acquired a diverse range of skills and knowledge in the fields of engineering and business administration.

Trans-Africa Projects, specialist in High Voltage Services was established in 1995 as a joint venture between Fluor and Eskom to commercially apply resources and expertise in electrical infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. From humble beginnings, TAP evolved into an independent internationally recognised high voltage EPCM and Consulting service provider. Within our specialised services, we also offer electrical infrastructure audits, earthing studies, electromagnetic modelling, system and protection fault investigations. TAP also supplies tower mechanical and electrical testing and renewable energy grid integration infrastructure design and grid compliance. TAP remains the leader in providing local and international high voltage transmission, sub-transmission, distribution and electrification projects, ranging from 765 kV to 11 kV.
