Portia Matamela holds a Master's Degree in Programme Management from Cranefield College of Project & Programme Management, completed between 2017 and 2020. Currently serving as a Project Coordinator at TCTA (Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority) since May 2016, Portia has taken on various roles including Executive Coordinator, where responsibilities encompassed divisional interface, performance reporting, and acting as Coordinator in the Office of the CEO. Previous experience includes serving as Programme Coordinator at the Programme to Improve Learning Outcomes (PILO) from July 2013 to April 2016, managing project planning, administration, and stakeholder liaison. Portia's earlier career at DBSA involved roles as a Personal Assistant, Publications Coordinator, and Office Administrator.

TCTA is a state-owned entity, established in terms of Government Notice No 2631 in Government Gazette No 10545, dated 12 December 1986. The notice was replaced by Government Notice 277 in Government Gazette No 21017 dated 24 March 2000, promulgated in terms of the National Water Act, 1988(Chapter 10).
