Robbie Aherne currently serves as the General Manager of System Resilience at Transgrid, a position held since July 2023. Prior to this role, Robbie accumulated extensive experience at EirGrid from January 2005 to July 2023, progressing through various leadership roles including Head of Future Networks, Head of Public Engagement, and Head of New Connections, among others. Robbie's earlier career includes a tenure as a Systems Analyst in Financial Systems at Citi from September 2003 to December 2004. Robbie holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Bath, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from ACCA, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College Cork. Additionally, Robbie has been recognized as a Chartered Engineer by Engineers Ireland since 2008.
