Sam Vermette

Co-Founder & CEO at Transit

Samuel Vermette is a Canadian software engineer and entrepreneur. Sam is the co-founder and CEO of Transit, an app that provides real-time public transit information.

Vermette began their career as a freelance iOS developer in 2008. Sam worked on a number of apps, including Firefly, an attempt to better integrate location-based networks with Twitter, and Fancy, often referred to as the "Facebook of stuff." Sam also launched Shows, an iOS app that made it easier for people to track their favorite artists on tour. The app was downloaded over 20,000 times and received praise for its unique design and ease of use.

In addition to their work on commercial apps, Vermette also pushed several popular open source iOS components on GitHub that are used across hundreds of great iOS apps, including Slack, The White House app, Vine and Penultimate.

Sam Vermette obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Product Design from Université de Montréal.
