Kurt Pregler has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles in the public and private sectors. Kurt began their career in 2003 as a Consultant/Project Manager at TransLink and Coast Mountain Bus Company. In 2005, they joined RGS Consulting International Inc. as a Senior Consultant and later became the President of Xeropia Consulting in 2003.

In 2007, Pregler assumed the role of VP Marketing at IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) British Columbia. Kurt then joined Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) as a Manager of Process & Project Services in 2008. During this time, they also served as an advisor for the MBA Program Organizational Consulting Project at Royal Roads University from 2008 to 2012.

Pregler's experience in technology and project management led him to the BC Ministry of Health - Drug Benefit Council as a Public Member in 2017. The following year, they joined TransLink as the Director of Technology Application Services, where they were responsible for enterprise application implementation and support services until 2015.

In 2015, Pregler took on the role of Director of Compass Project Management at TransLink, overseeing the successful implementation of Metro Vancouver's electronic fare card and fare gate project. Kurt later became the Director of Compass System Delivery in 2017, ensuring the ongoing development and support of Metro Vancouver's automated fare collection and fare gate system. Finally, in 2017, Pregler assumed the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at TransLink.

Kurt has also served as a Board Member at E-Comm 9-1-1 | Emergency Communications for British Columbia Incorporated since 2022. Kurt obtained their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Accounting, Marketing, and Business Administration from Simon Fraser University in the period of 1988 to 1993. Continuing their education, they then attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2001, earning a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Professional (ITP), and obtaining various certifications including MCDBA, MCSE, MCP, CNA, CCA, and A+. Furthermore, they pursued executive education in knowledge management and business administration at Royal Roads University, completing an MBA with a specialization in Executive Management in Knowledge Management and a DKM in Knowledge Management in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

In 2004, Kurt Pregler achieved the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation from CMC-Canada after completing the certification program. Kurt later expanded their expertise in the Information Technology field by obtaining ITIL v2 and ITIL v3 certifications from EXIN in 2003 and 2008 respectively. Additionally, they obtained a Master Certificate in Project Management (MCPM) from the University of Victoria in 2009 and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in 2011.

Continuing their commitment to professional development, Kurt Pregler gained further qualifications related to boardroom governance, technology, and cybersecurity. In 2021, they completed the Boardroom Readiness For Tech Executives (Qualified Technology Expert, QTE) program offered by the Digital Directors Network. Kurt also completed the Oversight of Cybersecurity in an Era of Digital Acceleration and Boardroom Effectiveness for Executives courses provided by the Institute of Corporate Directors the same year.
