Ed Zavala serves as the Transplant Administrator at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, overseeing the multi-organ adult and pediatric transplant center since June 2003. Additionally, Zavala holds the position of Research Professor of Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Management at Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, where an annual elective on The Practice of Transplant Administration is taught to Health Care MBA students. As the Co-Founder and Principal of Transplant Management Group, LLC, established in January 1997, Zavala specializes in organizational effectiveness, revenue management, and business planning within the transplant sector. Prior to this, the role of Administrator for Transplant Services was held at The University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, from December 1996 to June 2003, managing solid organ transplant programs. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Business from the University of Phoenix and a BS in Biology from San Diego State University.
