Maggie Carter has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Maggie began their career in 1998 at the Greater Manchester Police, where they served as the Branch Training Manager and later as the Arear Operations Room Manager. In these roles, they managed training for operational staff, maintained records and management information, and liaised with internal and external partners.

In 2005, Maggie joined Highways England as the Operations Manager of the North East Regional Control Centre. Maggie successfully managed the transition of the control centre from a construction site to an operational control room, and led a team of 70 employees.
